Velma Rosalie (Banet) Batliner, 92, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016. She was born on May 5, 1924, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Chester and Emma (Engle) Banet. She retired from Census Bureau after 30 years of service and was a member at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Velma enjoyed gardening, quilting, and reading.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl "Bud" Batliner; and her brother, Kenny Banet. She is survived by her loving children, Barbara Owsley (Dean), Carol Kannapel (Steve), Earl "Buddy" Batliner, Jr. (Dot); her brother, Ray Banet; her sister, Joyce Daughtery; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
There will be a Memorial Visitation held on Thursday, October 6, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150, with service to follow at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association (Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville, Kentucky 40205) or to St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana 47119).
