Velma May Jacobi

November 23, 1932 — April 17, 2020

Velma "May" Jacobi, 87, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully at Autumn Woods Health Campus on Friday evening, April 17, 2020. May retired from Colgate Palmolive in March of 1990 and was a devout member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

May was born on November 23, 1932, in Floyd County, Indiana, to the late John and Ruth (Schmidt) Jacobi. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy "Dottie" (Jacobi) Hess, Mary Helen (Jacobi) Peter, Bernice "Bernie" (Jacobi) Doyle, and her twin Thelma "Fay" Jacobi. May is survived by her brother John Jacobi, Jr. (Judy); nephew, Ivan Peter; and several loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of May's life will be announced later this summer. Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with her care. May will be laid to rest privately at St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church Cemetery in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.

The family requests that contributions in May's memory be made to Holy Family Catholic Church (129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany, IN 47150), the American Cancer Society (1640 Lyndon Farm Court, Suite 104, Louisville, KY 40223), or the Alzheimer's Association (6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205).
