Uconda Schoolfield, 50, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Uconda was a deeply compassionate and strong-willed woman whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. From a young age, she had a love for the arts, expressing herself through ballet and tap dancing and later through her talent for playing the flute. Her passion for music remained a constant in her life, and she was a proud member of the Louisville Flute Society. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, cherishing her beloved cats, Ali and Loki, and holding dear memories of her dogs, Bam and Tyson. Uconda was an exceptional cook, and family and friends always looked forward to the meals she prepared, which she shared with warmth and generosity. She had a remarkable ability to succeed at anything she set her mind to, a reflection of her determination, focus, and natural talent.
Above all, Uconda’s greatest love was her family. She shared an especially deep bond with her husband Dante and her only son, Anthony, who meant the world to her. She was known for her fiery spirit and unwavering devotion to those she loved, always standing firmly for what she believed was right. In her professional life, she was a natural leader—someone others turned to for guidance and problem-solving, respected for her strength, insight, and determination. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; from an early age, she was a devoted believer in Christ and found strength and comfort in her religion. Even as her illness progressed, Uconda remained selfless, consistently putting others before herself and demonstrating remarkable grace, resilience, and love until the very end.
She was born on June 24, 1975 in Louisville, Kentucky to Frank and Sarah (Smith) Chandler.
