Tyree Lamar Jones Sr., a cherished son, devoted father, and beloved friend from Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the age of 47.
Born on March 5, 1979, Tyree’s life was a beautiful testament to love, laughter, and commitment to family.
Known for his humor and radiant smile that could brighten a room, Tyree touched the hearts of all who knew him. His passion extended beyond his family; as an highly respected coach and mentor of little league football, he dedicated himself to guiding young lives with patience and kindness. Surrounded by loved ones, Tyree’s presence brought joy and warmth.
He was born to his mother, Marcella Jenkins and was raised with the presence and support of Michael Jenkins.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, T’Ryiah Jones and De’Myiah Sims; sons, Tyree Jones Jr., Tyson Jones, and Tylin Dobbins; grandchildren, Riko and Riva Gracia; brother, Michael Jenkins Sr.; nephew, Michael Jenkins Jr.; nieces Micayah and Mariah Jenkins; aunts, Cathy (Darrell) Smith and Carla Jones; uncle, Joseph (Angela) Jones Jr.; the mothers of his children, Da’Keesha Sims and Toyia Dobbins; along with a wide circle of extended family and friends who hold his memory dear.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Angela Smith and Fannie Jones; his grandfathers, Joseph Jones Sr. and Donald Turner; his father, Lawrence Bendingfield; and his nephew, Darrell Jones (Jada).
Tyree’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with a wake from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by his memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church (2224 W. Chestnut Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40211) A repast will follow after the service at the same location.
Though deeply missed, Tyree’s spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved him—forever cherished and remembered.
