Tracey Louise Sumner, 46, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015. Her entire life was built around her music and her faith. She was a talented pianist and served as the music director for various local churches. Tracey received the Rasmussen Scholarship from Indiana University Southeast School of Music and studied under Russel Thomas at the University of Louisville.
Tracey previously was employed as the Youth and Music Director for the Salvation Army in New Albany. She was a participant on several overseas mission trips and was involved with prison ministry for the Clark County Jail.
She was born on December 3, 1969 in New Albany, Indiana to Arthur and Ella Jean (Kantlehner) Sumner. Tracey is also survived by her brother, Shawn Sumner (Lura); uncles, Gary McMinoway (Linda), Sam Sumner (Joy); cousins, Kelly Gollar (Joe), Eric McMinoway (Mandy), Greg McMinoway (Kelly), Kevin McMinoway (Melanie), Ryan McMinoway; and her beloved yorky, Sylvester.
Cremation was chosen following Tracey's wishes. A reception of family and friends will be from 1:30 PM to 3 PM on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at First Assembly of God (2778 Charlestown Road, New Albany) with a Memorial Service taking place at 3 PM. Tracey will be laid to rest privately at Bowery Cemetery in Memphis, Indiana.
