Tomiko Tachiguti Mcdowell

December 3, 1931 — June 16, 2018

Tomiko Tachiguti McDowell, 86, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018. She was a lifetime member of the SGI – Buddhist Association and became a leader in the Richlands District as a Women's Division District Leader in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Tomiko took pride in planting her flowers and gardening.

She was born on December 3, 1931, in Nagoya, Japan. Tomiko is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James McDowell; and her siblings, Nomoko, Kazo, and Sheich Tachiguti.

Tomiko is survived by her daughter, Linda Mardis; her grandsons, Roy and James Mardis; and her best friend, Susie Elliott.

A Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at SGI Highlands Louisville Buddhist Community Center (1930 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40205). She will then be laid to rest with her husband at New Albany National Cemetery. Cremation was chosen following Tomiko's wishes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the SGI Highlands Louisville Buddhist Community Center.
