Timothy J. "Tim" Venne, 60, of Starlight, Indiana, born January 17, 1957, in New Albany, Indiana, passed away on January 18, 2017, at home ending a 15-year battle with leukemia.
Tim was a retired pipefitter for Globe Mechanical, Local 502. He was a devoted family man, avid hiker, and Mustang enthusiast. Tim loved his role as "Pa" and Uncle Tim always sharing his love of adventure with the little ones.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ted, and siblings, Yvonne and Felix. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bill Flispart whom he tried "to mold his life to be"—a hard-working family man.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Stephanie (Flispart) Venne; children, Jill Owen (Danny), Leslie Sellers (Jason), and Jerad Venne. He was the beloved "Pa" to six grandchildren, Wyatt, Addison, Oliver, and Maggie Sellers and Luke and Blake Owen. Tim was a cherished son-in-law to Barbara Flispart and a respected brother-in-law to Mike (Nan), Paul (Staci), Kirk (Jenny), Scott (Paula), and Janet Flispart and Amanda (Jamie) Craig. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Venne; siblings, Ernie, Jane, Eva, and Mark (Rhonda) Venne, and Sara (Ray) Edwards; and 13 nieces and nephews.
His Visitation will be from 1 to 6 PM on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150). His Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Monday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119).
The family would like to acknowledge the groundbreaking cancer research being performed by Dr. John Byrd at the James Wexler Medical Center at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The family extends special gratitude to Dr. Byrd and his staff for the wonderful care they received.
