Timothy "Tim" Colgate, aged 74, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Born on May 10, 1951, in Woodberry, Tennessee, to Richey and Rheba (Elkins) Colgate, Tim's life was one marked by devotion, kindness, and a love for family and simple joys.
A proud veteran, Tim honorably served three years in the United States Army. Beyond his service, Tim was a loving father and papaw who cherished his daughter Tracy above all else. Whether helping her through life's challenges or joyfully taking his grandchildren to school, his unwavering support and presence were constants in their lives.
Tim’s passions brought him great happiness — from fishing off the pier and rooting for the University of Kentucky Wildcats, to working on cars and admiring classic Corvettes. He had a love for western movies, especially Gun Smoke. As a brother, uncle, and friend, Tim’s gentle nature and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rheba and Richey Colgate; his sister, Victoria (Gregory) Wooten; and brother-in-law, Barry Doane. Tim leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold him in their hearts: his daughter, Tracy (Mike) Borum; granddaughters Kaylee Colgate, Taylor Borum, and Chloe Borum; siblings Kent (Kathy) Colgate, Stephen (Cheryl) Colgate, James (Caroline) Colgate, Linda Doane, Joseph Colgate (Tammie Sewell), and Jennine (Dennie) Shiers; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.
Tim’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. Families and friends are invited to share memories and leave messages of condolence to honor his remarkable life.
