Timothy "Tim" Rankin, Sr., age 67, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Tim was a loving and devoted father, brother, uncle, and beloved Pawpaw to his cherished grandchildren. He exemplified a strong work ethic and was dedicated to ensuring his family’s well-being.
Tim found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was fishing or participating in family gatherings, where his warm presence will be fondly remembered. An avid fan of playing his Nintendo Wii, he had a particular affinity for the bowling game. Tim’s green thumb allowed him to create a beautiful garden, filled with vibrant tomatoes and stunning flowers. He was also known as a grill master, delighting his family with barbecued meals.
In addition to his personal pursuits, Tim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and displayed his artistic talent by painting sections of the University of Louisville. He was a passionate supporter of UofL Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs, which reflected his spirited nature.
Tim was born on July 20, 1958, in Simpsonville, Kentucky, to William and Lucille (Jones) Rankin. He is preceded in death by his father, William Rankin; mother, Lucille Rankin; brothers, James Rankin and Bill Rankin; and sister, Charlotte Rankin.
He is survived by his loving family, including his daughter, Meaghan (Avery Hill) Rankin; son, Timothy Rankin, Jr.; step-son, Andre (Marquita) Maye; son, NaJai Rankin; daughter, Tyise Brown; and siblings John (Nancy) Rankin, Jessie Rankin, and Tony Rankin. Tim leaves behind a village of grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will treasure his memory.
