Thomas "Tom" Simpson

Thomas "Tom" Simpson, age 70, of Underwood, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Born on November 13, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Chester and Mary (Needy) Simpson, Tom lived a life full of kindness, warmth, and dedication to those he loved.

Tom was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend, whose generous spirit touched everyone who knew him. He had a deep love for the tranquility of country living, cherishing his more than 3.5 acres of land where he spent countless hours. Tom’s passion for nurturing nature was evident in his two beautiful gardens and the many projects he undertook, often collaborating with the Amish community to build structures on his farm. His easygoing nature and open heart made him someone everyone felt comfortable turning to. Among his greatest joys was spending time with his great-great nephew, Roy Daniel, for whom he lovingly built a swing set – a testament to the caring and giving soul he was.

Tom is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mary Elizabeth McGregor and Chester Sherman Simpson, his sister Brenda Haynes, and niece Angelina Ballenger. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Daniel Simpson, nephew Tony (Cindy) Ballenger, great-nephews Jeffery, Jake, and Nick Ballenger, great-niece Lacie Ballenger, great-great nephew Roy Daniel, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory forever.

A visitation to honor Tom’s life will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel. He will be laid to rest on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions in Tom’s memory be made to Newcomer Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
