Thomas D. "Tom" Sparks, age 74 of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Tom was born in Covington, Kentucky and grew up and went to school in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served in the United States Air Force where he was a member of the Honor Team that brought the servicemen and servicewomen who gave their life for the country back home. He was a Purple Heart Recipient. After the Air Force, he entered and completed his college degree at the University of Cincinnati where he majored in Construction Management and Architecture. At a span of 40 years, he specialized and excelled in construction design and architecture. He was the project manager for the construction of the Fairfield Mall in Ohio, and led the team on the restoration project of the Seelbach Hotel here in Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Phyllis Sparks; daughter, Susan; and his constant companion, Lulu.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 20 plus years, Ellen; sons, Jeffrey Sparks and Doug Sparks (Kathi); grandchildren, Tyler, Shelby, Zander, Travis, Elizabeth, Essie, Jody and Sabrina; great-grandchildren, Nicho, Gunner, Cody, Blake, Siena, Bailey and Dacey; siblings, Debbie Hesser (Jerry), Mark Sparks (Carol), Mike Sparks (Lyn); many wonderful nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be 11am to 1pm on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A memorial celebration of Tom's life will follow at 1 pm, concluding with military honors.
Memorials may be made to Best Friends Animals, the Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnels to Towers.
