Thomas A. Rhodes , 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines, where he was also a Golden Glove. Tommy was a talented and gifted musician and song writer. He traveled extensively playing music, making countless friends along the way. In the beginning of his career he walked the streets of Nashville with Tom T. Hall, Kris Kristopherson, Waylon, Sleepy LaBeef, Willie Nelson, and Billy Joe Shaver. Tommy lived a full life, he loved people and people loved him. He shared his life stories in his songs.
He was born on June 9, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio to James and Margaret (Guthrie) Rhodes. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Irvin Klein; great-grandchild , Lily Frank; and step-mother, Amie Rhodes.
Thomas is survived by his Daughter, Sharl (Jeff ) Gearing, Daughter, Susan (Mark ) Schamaun, Daughter, Deborah Rhodes, Son, Michael Rhodes, Daughter, Tammy (Michael ) Lanum, Brother, Jack Rhodes, Brother, Guy Rhodes, Significant Other , Jo Savage, Grandchild, Kristin (Dustin ) Frank, Grandchild, Mitch (Alana) Schamaun, Grandchild, Jarod (Samantha) Schamaun, Grandchild, Lindsay (Matthew) Smith, Grandchild, Miles Walker, Great-Grandchild, Savannah Savage, Great-Grandchild, Ethan Savage, Great-Grandchild, Zoe Savage, Great-Grandchild, Khloe Smith, Great-Grandchild, Paris Smith, Great-Grandchild, Nora Frank; and good friends, Clay (Rosie) Savage, Edward (Pauline ) Savage, Darrin (Rick ) Savage, Christopher Savage, G Lee, Charlie, Byron, Darrell, Mr. Brooks, Smith Family, Farrell Family, and Norma & Jimmy, and Joe Layman.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (Central) in Radcliff, Kentucky.
