Thomas Edward Lockard, born on June 25, 1953, left us on May 3, 2025, with his beloved wife by his side. He lived a life that was free-spirited and fun-loving, a spirit that everyone around him cherished and valued. His untiring dedication to both work and family resonated through every aspect of his life, as he embraced all his roles with love and care.
A proud graduate of Ahrens Trade and Technical School, Thomas built a solid career as a welder for JCPS, showcasing not only his hard work but also his commitment to excellence. Throughout his journey, he became a well-respected chief union steward for Teamsters Local 783, where he actively supported his fellow workers.
Thomas was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and he found joy in cheering on UK basketball. Music filled his soul, especially classic rock 'n' roll, which always brought a smile to his face. Yet, above all, it was the moments spent with family that brought him the most pride. Watching his family grow was his proudest accomplishment, a testament to the love he nurtured and the warmth he provided.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Gayle Marie Lockard; his son, Joshua M. Lockard; and his daughter, Cary L. (James Bruce) Lockard. He was deeply loved by his brothers, Dickie (Tamara) Lockard, Jack L. (Janis) Lockard, and Gary S (Robyn) Lockard. He is also remembered fondly by a host of loving nieces, nephews, respected friends, and his cherished fur baby, Finn.
He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Michele Marie Lockard, and his parents, Charles Edward Lockard and Lauretta Lockard. Thomas's absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. His vibrant legacy lives on as we remember a man who brought light into our lives with his kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.
