Thomas William Drake, age 81, passed away on August 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in Louisville, Kentucky on February 14, 1945, to the late Albert Drake and Minnie (Davis) Drake.

Tom graduated from Male High School in 1963. After graduation, he held a variety of jobs before starting a career at United Parcel Service, where he spent 30 years as a route delivery driver serving several communities in the Greater Louisville area and making connections that would last a lifetime.

It was on one of these routes he met the love of his life, Peggy. They loved each other dearly, and married in 1990. Together they built a life around their faith and family, and traveled around the world.

Tom and Peggy have been members of Hikes Point Christian Church since the church's founding. They helped establish ministries within HPCC and went on several mission trips where the Lord guided them.

Tom was a craftsman and artist who used his skills not just around his home and to pass on to his sons, but to help his family, friends, church, and missions abroad. He built furniture in his workshop, created stained glass art, and any number of projects he was asked to brainstorm.

Tom had a lifelong love of fishing. He spent many days on Rough River and Taylorsville Lake fishing with family and friends, as well as traveling to fishing destinations in Alabama and Florida. He also enjoyed golfing with his family and friends, and participated in the HPCC golf scramble for many years.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Patsy Smith, and his brother, Jackie Drake, both of Louisville, Kentucky.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Peggy (Grigsby); sons, Chris Drake (Deb), and Scott Drake (Jenny); granddaughters, Delaney Meyers, Kyla Drake-Meyers, and Sophia Meyers; grandsons, Cody Barber (Courtney), and Hunter Braginton; and two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Jane Keller (Daniel).
