Thomas Keith Akers, Sr.

Thomas Keith Akers, Sr., 68, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018. He enjoyed hunting and was employed for 15 years by the City of New Albany, working at Fairview Cemetery. Tom also worked for 9 years with the Indiana Highway Department.

He was born on March 21, 1950, to the late Robert F., Sr., and Elizabeth J. (Kron) Akers. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James, Robert, Jr., and David Akers.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sherri (Marr) Akers; children, Thomas "Keith" Akers, Jr. (Kelly), Jamie Akers (Lindsay), Deanna Burns (Danny), Scott Akers, and Tammy Jones (Richard); brother, Larry Akers (Shelly); sister, Mary Ellenbrand (Donnie); and grandchildren, Kelsey, Kinsey, Kassidy, Cody, Christopher, and Hailey.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Park Christian Church (2231 Green Valley Road, New Albany) with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
