Theodore N. Burrell, Jr., affectionately known as "Brother," passed away on June 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, dedication, and an unyielding spirit. Born on June 30, 1941, Theodore lived a life full of purpose and devotion, touching the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.
A proud graduate of Central High School, Ted exemplified hard work and entrepreneurship throughout his life. Before retiring, he owned three liquor stores, a laundromat, and Professional Roofers Inc. His journey began as a journeyman roofer, where he honed skills that would later shape his career and character. Even after stepping away from roofing, he continued to contribute meaningfully by working in the family appraisal business, always committed to providing for those he cared about.
Known for being outgoing, caring, and selfless, Ted was greatly loved by his family and friends. His selflessness and devotion to taking care of everyone around him were hallmarks of his personality. He took pride in being a Kentucky Colonel, an honor reflecting his commitment and service.
Ted's family was a cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Margaret Burrell, whose partnership was a source of strength and joy. He also leaves behind his daughter, Melinda (Pat) Sanders, and grandsons, Jordyn and Will.
His memory is also cherished alongside those who preceded him in death: his father, Theodore N. Burrell, Sr.; his mother, Elizabeth Burrell; and his sisters, Annie Hendricks and Fitzgerald Joseph. Though they are gone, their legacy continues in the fabric of Ted's life and the family he so dearly loved.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens, located at 279 Landis Lane, Mount Washington, KY 40047. This gathering will be a time for family and friends to honor Ted's remarkable life and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him.
