Thelma Jean (Bailey) Sermon, 82, of Salem, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, surrounded by her 7 loving daughters. Jean was an avid gardener of produce and flowers and loved to collect angels. She was devoted to her family and was a faithful follower of Christ. Jean was a lifetime member of Christ Gospel Church in Jeffersonville.
She was born on June 12, 1937, in Jackson County, Tennessee, to the late Otis and Willie B. Bailey. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Joseph Sermon; brother, Otis Bailey, Jr.; and sisters, Lillie Antz and Martha Embry.
Jean is survived by her loving daughters, Sherrill (David) Lott, Renee (Alvin) Burman, Jo Ann (Terry) Voyles, Brenda (Jeff) Burman, Mollie Sermon, Rebecca Raque, and Angela (Daniel) Sermon-Pieper; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Christ Gospel Church (2614 E. 10th St., Jeffersonville, IN 47130). Her Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church with burial to follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery in Salem, Indiana.
