Thelma L. Poulter, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 13, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on May 24, 1947, in Hartford, Kentucky, Thelma was a woman of remarkable character and steadfast dedication, known for her selflessness and caring nature. She consistently put the needs of others before her own, embodying the spirit of compassion in all aspects of her life.

Thelma devoted her professional life to public service, retiring in 2007 from the United States Department of Agriculture after many years of dedicated work. Her career was marked by her unwavering commitment to her duties and her colleagues, earning her the respect and admiration of those who had the pleasure to work alongside her.

In her personal life, Thelma was actively involved in her community, serving as the secretary of the Wildwood Association. Her hobbies included sewing, a pastime that allowed her creativity to flourish and resulted in many cherished handmade gifts for her family and friends.

The love of her life was her family, who will deeply miss her. She is survived by her son, Ronald Wooten; daughter, Rhonda Wooten; and her grandchildren, Dallas Wooten, Tiffany Wooten, Brock Wooten, and Taylor Wooten. She also enjoyed the joy of great-grandchildren, Zane Hurley, Enzo Hurley, Brantley Hall, Braylonna Wooten, and Jolene Hall. She is also survived by her siblings, Janice Culbreath, Dallas Lee, and Dallene (Steve) Decker; her companion, Jackie Hunter; and many step-children, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Carol Robert Poulter; her parents; and her sisters, Vivian Handy, Theresa Lee, and Regina Land.

As we remember Thelma L. Poulter, let us honor her legacy of kindness, compassion, and an unwavering love for her family. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). Her Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Patoka Memorial Cemetery in French Lick, Indiana.
