Thelma Margaret (Engle) Bierman, 87, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015. She was a long time member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs where she had been involved in Christian Mothers. Thelma was actively involved in the founding of Merrel Bierman Excavating.
She was born on June 12, 1928 in Starlight, Indiana to the late Joseph and Rose (Kiesler) Engle. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Edward, Charles, William, Melvin Engle, Helen Andres, Virginia Kersten; and son-in-law, Rick Loftus.
Thelma is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Merrel Bierman; children, Jim Bierman (Nancy), Janice Bezy (Richard), Theresa Loftus, Tony Bierman (Cherie), Marilyn Francke, Marcia Huth (John), Joe Bierman (Jana); sister-in-laws, Maurice and Ann Engle; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 PM on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Tuesday after 9 AM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday in the chapel at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (3011 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
