Terry Jerome Hayes, Sr.

Terry Jerome Hayes, Sr., age 76, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on August 8, 2026. Born in Louisville on July 11, 1950, he was the cherished son of the late William and Rose Hayes.

Terry was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His love for singing and writing poetry touched many, and his time as a Kentucky Colonel showcased his dedication to the community. Every year, he brought joy to many by dressing as Santa Claus for his family and community. Terry found peace in nature at the lakes and cherished moments cooking out with loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved daughter Nicole "Nikki" Hayes, and 10 siblings.

Cherishing his memory are Elaine Hayes; his sons, Terry Jr., Sean, and Shane Hayes; his grandchildren, Terry III, Jacob, Sean Jr., Victor, Gracie, Austin, Brendan, Justin, Evan, and Hank; along with five great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky 40272. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m.
