Teresa Ann Bishop, 65, of Taylorsville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026.
She was born on June 10, 1960 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Lawrence and Barbara Ann (Jenkins) Wilkerson. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Garry Mitchell Bishop.
Teresa is survived by her loving children, Shannon Bishop Craig (Kyle) and Cameron Bishop; Danielle Honeycutt and four grandchildren.
In life Teresa fiercely loved her husband and her children. As an avid reader, she appreciated slower moments when she could flip pages for herself or read to her children. She found comfort in music and could often be found humming or singing an old tune while going about her day. Teresa was a rule-follower, remembered for a strict philosophy of right and wrong. During her life she served her community in various roles – as a detective, then later a nurse; as a PTA mom and football booster; as a choir member and church volunteer. She could be bluntly honest, but she believed in helping others and instilled that in her children.
Per Teresa's wishes, cremation was chosen and she’ll be buried with her previously departed husband, Garry Mitchell Bishop. The family invites you to join them on Friday, June 5th, 2026 at 1:30 PM for a graveside service honoring both Garry and Teresa, at Lebanon National Cemetery in Lebanon, KY.
The family has organized a Celebration of Life luncheon, on Saturday, June 6th, 2026 from 11AM – 2PM in Louisville, KY. For restaurant details, please reach out to the children.
Due to travel and cemetery restrictions, the family asks for no glass or potted plant arrangements. Flowers can be delivered to the Newcomer East Chapel at 235 Juneau Dr. Louisville, KY 40243 and will be transported to Lebanon for graveside services.
