Teddie D. Rayburn, cherished husband, father, brother, pappy, and friend, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the age of 62 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born on November 30, 1963, in Louisville to Norman and Ellen (Goetz) Rayburn, Teddie was a man whose heart was as vast as his warm embrace. Known affectionately as the "big teddy bear," he was widely recognized as the best hugger, offering comfort and kindness to all who knew him. A devoted man of faith and prayer warrior, Teddie was an active member of New Cut Road Baptist Church, where his compassionate spirit shone brightly.
Teddie’s life was marked by love and dedication—to his family, friends, and community. As a skilled contractor, he poured his talents into building and creating, and his love of fishing and football brought joy and treasured memories throughout the years. Above all, he was a steadfast caretaker, lovingly tending to his wife Lisa during a profoundly difficult time. Lisa fondly recalls that Teddie was truly “the wind beneath my wings.”
He is deeply mourned by his beloved wife of 29 years, Lisa Rayburn; his daughters, Lekesha (John) Watkins, Ashley (Jason) Penuell, and Aynslee (Jose) Fonseca; his grandchildren, Alban, Lillian, Dayton, Stetson, and Lawson; and his sisters, Deborah (Larry) Grider and Terry (Steve) Maier. His memory will also be lovingly preserved by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Teddie was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ellen and Norman Rayburn.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Teddie’s life during visitation from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 4, 2026. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.
May we all cherish the memories of Teddie’s kindness, his gentle spirit, and the love he shared so freely. To share your memories or leave a message for his family, please visit the guestbook.
