Tammy Edwina Goldsmith, affectionately known as Mamaw and Tammy Cat, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her. Born on January 1, 1967, in Louisville, Kentucky, Tammy’s journey through life was marked by her boundless kindness, extreme loving nature, and a vibrant sense of humor that brightened the days of everyone around her.
Raised and nurtured in the community she cherished, Tammy attended the Cumberland Day Program, a part of her life that helped shape her gentle soul and warm demeanor. She was a woman of simple yet profound joys: she found delight in fishing, traveling, and a world of color that sparked her imagination and happiness. Her affection for her stuffed animals and dolls, along with her love for purses, spoke to a playful spirit that remained ever youthful and radiant.
Tammy’s personality was a beacon of kindness—she was extremely loving and had a funny, endearing presence that touched friends, family, and caretakers alike. Through her days, she showed a heart so full of love that it embraced all those around her and left lasting impressions that words can scarcely capture.
She is survived by a loving family who stood faithfully by her side: her brother Alan K. Goldsmith (Sharon), sisters Bonnie Frances Copas, Nancy Jane Cunningham (David), and brothers Johnny Goldsmith and Jimmy Goldsmith (Jackie). Along with them were her devoted caretakers, Rhonda and Travis Grey and their family, who provided compassionate care and friendship, as well as numerous nephews and nieces who carry forward her legacy of love and laughter.
Tammy’s life was also shaped by the memories of those who went before her. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edward and Mary Goldsmith, and her siblings Linda Goldsmith and Eddie Goldsmith. Their memories remain etched in her story and in the hearts of those who loved her.
A visitation will be held on May 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243. Though Tammy has departed from this world, her loving spirit, her warmth, and the joy she poured into the lives of others remain eternal. Those who loved her will forever carry the gentle echoes of her kindness and the vibrant colors of her unforgettable smile. Rest in peace, dear Tammy—your light will always shine brightly in our hearts.
