Sylas Glen Hobbs, Jr., 91, passed away on October 10, 2016. He was a WWII Army veteran who served in the South Pacific and he received the Bronze Star. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Sylas was the owner and operator of Hobbs Small Engine Repair business. He was talented in woodworking and enjoyed gardening with Anna.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Catherine Wickersham and Jessie Jones; brothers, Raymond and Clarence Hobbs and son-in-law, Joseph Baker.
Sylas is survived by his wife of 69 years, Anna Hobbs; children, Carolyn Hobbs, Larry (Karen) Hobbs and Valerie Baker; grandchildren, Brooke, Britte, Jason, Bryce, Michelle and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Anthony, Aiden and Oliva; sisters, Lila Vick and Juanita Juse.
Visitation will be Sunday, 16, 2016, from 3pm-6pm at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway). A celebration of Sylas's life will be Monday, October 17, 2016, beginning at 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens, 3817 Leitchfield Road, Cecilia, KY.
