Suzanne Marie Wells, 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on September 14th. Suzanne was born on September 21, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Norma Jean (Smith) Irby and Ellis Everett Irby. Formerly Suzanne Marie Irby, she grew up in the Bon Air and Hikes Point areas of Louisville and graduated from Seneca High School.
Throughout her working life, Suzanne held a variety of clerical and secretarial positions. She began her career with the Kentucky Farm Bureau in the late 1960s, later worked at Lincoln Federal Bank in the 1980s, and ultimately joined the Kentucky Lottery, where she worked in the security department until her retirement.
Suzanne was a member of Southeast Christian Church. She found joy in simple pleasures—playing cards, games, and puzzles, watching and playing sports, and especially cheering on the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Above all, she treasured her time with family and the many memories they made together.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Wells, and her parents, Norma Jean (Smith) Irby and Ellis Everett Irby. She leaves behind her children, Karen Noltemeyer (Brett) and Chris Merrifield (Valerie); grandchildren, Ryan Noltemeyer (Emily) and Matthew Noltemeyer (Kevyn); and great-grandchildren, Zoey, Phoebe, and Leo Noltemeyer. She is also survived by her sister, Sherrin Parrott (Joe); brother, Jim Irby (Kathy); nieces, Angie Shroyer (Rod), Ashley Parrott, and Kelly Shaaber (Chris); nephew, Jimmy Irby (Tami); and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Suzanne will be remembered for the love she gave her family, the time she shared with them, and the simple pleasures she enjoyed throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
