Suzanne "Momma Sue" Shelburn, 88, of Louisville, Kentucky departed from this life on March 23, 2018.
Suzanne was born on November 20, 1929 in Jericho, Kentucky to the late John and Maude (Washington) Gray. She was also preceded in death by her husband Richard James Shelburn, son Danny Clarke Shelburn, sisters; Aileen Gardner, Bernice Cass and brothers; Roy and John Gray.
She worked at Conco Factory as a safety nurse. Her favorite job was working at Senior Citizens, she loved people and enjoyed trying to cheer them up. She was a great cook and was famous for her caramel cakes.
Momma Sue was a great mother and grandmother and took her role very serious. She spent the last eight years at Springhurst Nursing Home and loved the other residents and CNA's. She knew everyone in the home and did not miss a chance to get hugs and kisses. She said to us "Do you know that I am really popular, everyone knows me!" Sue loved to sing and never missed a chance to perform.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Mildred Ann Shelburn, Dorma Shelburn-Wright, son, Richard James Shelburn, III, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and all her friends at Springhurst.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243), and from 12:00pm until the time of the service at 1:00pm on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Anchorage.
Her funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Anchorage (11500 LaGrange Road Anchorage, KY 40223) with burial to follow at Berrytown Cemetery.
