Susan Elaine Herschel, born on February 2, 1959, in Louisville, Kentucky, left this world on November 29, 2025, in Golf Port, Mississippi. Throughout her life, Susan embodied a spirit that was devoted and selfless. She carried herself with grace, kindness, and wit.
Her career was marked by dedication, from 2005 to 2020 as the executive assistant to the general manager at The Louisville Marriott Downtown, leaving a lasting impact on those around her.
Susan cherished her family above all. She took immense pride in spending time with her grandchildren-Sofie and Oliver White, Henry and Charlotte Smith-never missing a sporting event or a chance to support them. Her passion for family gatherings and joyous moments was a testament to her loving nature.
Susan’s vibrant personality shone through her interests in music festivals and cooking, where she often brought family and friends together.
She is lovingly remembered by her cherished daughters, Kimberly (Chad) White and Mandy (Paul) Smith, her loving mother, Norma Jane Harvey, and her sister, Patricia Harvey. Along with her immediate family, she had a wide circle of relatives and friends, including her sister-in-law, Joan Harvey, and her cousin, Bettye Craig, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her father, Theodore Lowe Harvey, and her brothers, Richard and Timothy Harvey. Susan’s journey through life was enriched by her compassionate spirit and her genuine kindness towards everyone she met.
Her family invites those who knew and loved Susan to celebrate her life. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150.
Though she has departed from this world, the legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that Susan Elaine Herschel leaves behind will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends.
