Susan "Sioux" Harris, age 62, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Sue was a beacon of love and devotion in the lives of everyone she touched. As a wife, mother, maw-maw, sister, aunt, and friend, she brought warmth, laughter, and joy to all who knew her. Known for her vibrant personality, Sue had an infectious love for life; whether it was watching a classic western film or relishing the joyous moments spent with her family, her enormous heart radiated kindness. Among her favorite moments were the lively and cherished gatherings at her brother's Kentucky Derby party, where her laughter could be heard above all.
Born on April 1, 1963, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Robert and Alma (McMahan) Harris, Sue was deeply rooted in her family values. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Alma M. Harris, father, Robert L. Harris, Sr., beloved husband Carl Heflin, Sr., and her two sons, Carl Heflin, Jr. and Roger Heflin, along with her sisters, Sharon Key and Betty Lyvers, and brother, Sam Harris.
Sue is lovingly remembered and survived by her devoted daughter, Melissa Heflin; five cherished grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her dear sisters, Kathy Luckett, Margie Graham, and Dianna Grider; her brothers, Terry Harris and Bobby Harris, Jr.; as well as a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will forever treasure her memory.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy. A funeral service honoring Sue’s remarkable life will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions in Sue's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and Kosair Children's.
