Susan Haley, born on July 6, 1964, in Louisville, Kentucky, was a vibrant spirit whose life was an inspiring testament to love, laughter, and family. She departed this world on August 14, 2025, in her cherished hometown, leaving behind a tapestry of memories anchored by the bonds she meticulously crafted with family and friends.
From her early days attending Durrett High School to the boundless joy she found in embodying the role of a devoted wife to her husband, Donald Mason Jr., Susan was known for her fun-loving and outgoing nature. Her warmth radiated through every event she attended, but it was the moments spent with her children, Chris (Angela) Mason and Sarah (Doug Thompson) Mason, that truly colored her life. The pride she felt in her children was only surpassed by the exuberance she discovered in being a grandmother to Abigail, Isaac, and Quincy. These three were her whole world, a source of unwavering joy and optimism that defined her existence. Along with several nieces and nephews, Susan is also survived by her brother, Mike Montgomery, sister, Rhonda Lambert and her mother in-law, Carolyn Mason.
Though she found enjoyment in many pursuits, few could rival her enthusiasm for the University of Louisville Cardinals. The thrill of college sports matched only by her fervent love for her animals, reflecting a nurturing disposition that extended to all living beings who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
In mourning her loss, we remember also those who preceded her in death: her father, Ronald Montgomery; her mother, Helen Wright; her step-father, James Wright; her brother, David Montgomery; her grandson, Blake Thompson; and her father-in-law, Donald Mason Sr. They, too, etched their legacy within her heart, guiding her spirit even in their absence.
Her family will gather to celebrate her incredible life at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville (10304 Dixie Hwy). Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday, August 27th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life starting at 11:00 AM, then she will be laid to rest at Pennsylvania Runn Cemetery. This gathering serves as a tribute to a life that was beautifully lived, one filled with love, cherished moments, and an enduring commitment to family.
As we bid farewell to Susan Haley, we embrace the memories she cultivated and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Her spirit will forever be woven into the hearts of those who knew her, an everlasting reminder of the joy and laughter that life can bring.
