Steven Ray Eckert

Steven Ray Eckert, 67, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024. Steven was a proud veteran of the United States Army and the American Legion Post #204. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved making homemade sausage and always cherished time with his loved ones at family BBQ's. 

He was born on February 13, 1957 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Raymond Eckert and Viola Missi Eckert. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Patterson; and step-son, John Riley.

Steven is survived by his wife, Delores Eckert; son, Ryan (Arika) Eckert; step-children, Don Riley, Tonia Riley and Tina Riley; siblings, Sharon (Kenneth) Rush, Sandra Bragg, Mark (Brenda) Eckert, Mary (Mark) Everage, and Donna Cunningham; and numerous grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen following Steven's wishes. A Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (2253 W. St. Joe Road, Sellersburg) with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

The family requests that contributions in Steven’s memory be made to the American Legion Post #204 (412 N New Albany St, Sellersburg, IN 47172).
