Stephen Thornbury

Stephen Thornbury, 62, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

He was born on April 1, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky to Hubert and Elsie (Williams) Thornbury. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, everything UofL, and especially loved spending time with his friends and family. Stephen had a gift of telling stories and making people laugh. He was a Little League coach and a Boy Scouts Troop Leader. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and family to everyone he knew. He has battled through many things in life but was always ready to lend a hand when you were in need, always willing to sit down and talk, always willing to listen and of course always willing to tell a story. Stephen will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Debbie Cook.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Diana Thornbury, son, Nicholas Kraig, daughter, Michelle (Eric) Blackman, son, Michael Thornbury, son, Jonathan Kraig, six grandchildren, Jonathan Kraig, Sydney Kraig, Zoey Blackman, Alexa Blackman, Kassie Cook, Kayla Embry, 2 great grandchildren, Nova Embry, & Callie Embry, sister, Donna (Pete) McGheehan, sister, Lynn (Mark) Wallace, sister, Kathy Keeling, sister, Carol (Brett) Cox, brother, David Thornbury, sister, Marion (Ross) Abell, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.

The family requests that contributions in Stephen's memory be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Louisville or American Cancer Society.
