Stephen Lee Kirtley, 74, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2015. He was a member of the VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach, the American Legion Post 42 in Floyds Knobs, and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Steve was an avid IU basketball fan and loved playing euchre.
He was born on August 25, 1940 in New Albany to the late Wilbur Kirtley and Genieve (Batliner) Anderson. Steve was also preceded in death by his first wife, Donna (Ruoff) Kirtley; and step-father, Kenneth Anderson.
Steve is survived by his wife, Terry (Thompson) Kirtley; children, Marcus Kirtley (Heather), Stephanie Hubler (Matt); step-son, Maurice Thompson; siblings, Mike Anderson (Connie), Cheryl Goedeker (Gene), Ronald Anderson, Pat Anderson (Patty); 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Visitation will be from 12 PM to 8 PM Monday, July 27, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). A rosary will be prayed Monday at 3 PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday in the chapel at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Contributions in Steve's memory may be made to his church or to Mt. Saint Francis Center for Spirituality (101 St. Anthony Drive, Mt. St. Francis, IN 47146).
