Stephen Earle Hyre, 76, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Born on October 9, 1949, to David and Ruth Hyre, Stephen lived a life marked by dedication, service, and faith. He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

A longtime member of Indian Creek Baptist Church in Greenville, Stephen was a pillar of strength and support within his community, embodying the values of compassion and service that the church represents.

In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his son, David, and his sister, Dianna. Stephen is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife, Martha; his son, Hamilton; his granddaughter, Kaitlyn; and his step-son, David Smith.

Visitation for friends and family will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with burial featuring military honors at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenville, Indiana.
