Stephanie Marion (Melnick) Carter

Carter (Melnick), Stephanie Marion, 68, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on July 4, 2016.
Stephanie was born on November 26, 1947, in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Andrew and Marion Melnick. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Melnick.
She grew up in Barrington, RI and graduated from Barrington High School in 1965. Stephanie attended Hood College (Maryland) and the Boston Conservatory of Music.
Stephanie met her future husband, Wayne in 1968 in Newport, RI and they married in early 1969. After Wayne's discharge from the Navy, they moved often on the east coast for Wayne's work.
Stephanie is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Wayne Carter; two sisters, Patricia Taylor (Greg) and Sandra Hamm (Joe); and many nieces and nephews.
Stephanie also leaves behind her loving pets, whom she loved dearly. She often picked up young kittens and found them homes. Without fail, she would go out to make sure "her" feral cats had food and water, rain or shine.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home-Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY, 40272.)
