Stacy Marie O'Connell, born September 20, 1981, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Stacy’s life was marked by her selfless love, sharp wit, and generous spirit—a woman who always put others before herself with a blend of blunt honesty and heartfelt compassion.
A proud graduate of Butler High School in 2000, Stacy furthered her education by earning an Associate’s Degree in History from Jefferson Community College. Her career was rooted in dedication and skill, spending 27 years working for UPS in container repair, where her commitment to excellence was evident to all who knew her.
Stacy was a cherished presence at family gatherings, known especially for her delicious holiday ham and her legendary pumpkin bread, both made with love and the joy of bringing loved ones together. Those who knew her fondly recall her playful nature, particularly the affectionate "boops" she lovingly delivered with a poke, a small gesture that embodied her warmth and humor.
Her interests were as varied as they were vibrant. An avid animal lover and true bookworm, Stacy delighted in escaping into stories and adventures. She found joy in Renaissance Festivals, embraced the thrill of the paranormal, and treasured time spent with family. Music was a constant companion, and she relished fine dining experiences, as well as sharing ice cream and coffee dates with close friends, always embracing life’s simple pleasures with enthusiasm.
Stacy’s personality was a remarkable balance of sarcasm and gentleness—blunt yet giving, loving and fiercely protective. Those who called her a friend were struck by her unwavering loyalty and the genuine care she extended to everyone around her.
She is survived by her mother, Dollie O’Connell; sisters Martha O’Connell and Mary O’Connell (Tabitha); brother Brian Johnson (Brittany); and her beloved nephew, Quincy O’Connell. She also leaves behind her best friend, Becky Abelove, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends who will deeply miss her presence.
Stacy was predeceased by her father, William Edward O’Connell; grandmother Martha Johnson; other mother Loretta Johnson; cousin Jeremy Johnson; and grandparents Evelyn and Joseph O’Connell. Their memories live on through the many lives Stacy touched so profoundly.
To honor Stacy’s life, visitation will be held on June 20, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m., both at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272.
In remembering Stacy Marie O’Connell, one recalls a life beautifully lived—a woman who loved fiercely, cared deeply, and left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion, a precious light that will forever glow in the hearts of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Kentucky Humane Society Animal Rescue League. In honor of Stacy's life she requested those who attending her service to dress in Halloween Costumes if they desire.
The family wants to give a special thanks to Tiffany Price for her love, care and support of Stacy during her last days.
