"Smokey" Edward Gardner

"Smokey" Joe Edward Gardner, 67, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Joe was a long standing member of Alcoholics Anonymous and Celebrate Recovery since March 5, 2008. His commitment to his sobriety was an example to many. Joe was also a member of the Church of the Promise.

He was born on August 20, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Melvaline "Butch" Gardner, and many family and friends.

Joe is survived by his loving Spouse of 2 years Melinda J. Gardner, Son, Joe L. Gardner, Grandchildren: Sloane, Von and Lyle Gardner, Step-Sons: Tyree, Darius, and Kaiden Wilson, Father-In-law, John Homeister, cousins Eva, Bonita, and Joe Gardner, and a host of friends and Family.

A gathering for Joe's family and friends will be from 4 pm to 6 pm on Friday, June 7, with a celebration of Joe's life at 6:00 pm at Church of the Promise, 1800 Portland Avenue, Louisville, KY 40203.

The family requests that contributions in Joe's memory be made to Church of the Promise.
