Silas "Si" Marlow, 94, of Louisville, Kentucky, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021.
Si was born on July 18, 1926, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Alvie and Viola Marlow. Si and his family moved to Louisville after the Depression. Upon graduating as Valedictorian from Ahrens Trade School, Si enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a radio operator aboard the USS Quincy, and his military service was a life changing event for him.
Si began his work career as a newspaper delivery boy, printer, and retired as Operations Manager after over 40 years at the Courier-Journal.
Si is preceded in death by his parents, and after celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary, his wife, Gloria Yohe Marlow.
Si is survived by his loving daughters Sherry Flener, Donna Barnett, and Vicki Woodrum (Dana); grandchildren, Melissa Dimitri (Steve), Tracy Flener, Danille Crites (Mike), Carrie Logan (Jake Turnbough), Nathaniel Woodrum (Lauren); great-grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Jocelyn Allen, and Sydney Allen; close friends, Ed Mitchell, Cathy and Gary Young, Art and Ruth Von Dreele, his Forest Springs community, with special thanks to Becky Dunaway. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Buddy.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville Chapel, (235 Juneau Drive). His Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 pm.
The family requests that contributions in Si's memory be made to Honor Flight Bluegrass and Trilogy Employees Educational Fund.
