Shirley Ann Young, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in Georgetown, Indiana. Born on November 16, 1937, in Elizabeth, Indiana, Shirley lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and love for her family and community.

Throughout her lifetime, Shirley found joy in gardening, reading, sewing, and the simple pleasure of watching birds through her window. She treasured spending time with her family, creating cherished memories that will endure through generations.

Shirley is survived by her devoted children: Delmon Young, Jr. and his wife Linda; Michael Young and his wife Garnetta; Susan Fries and her husband Daniel; Sherry Love and her husband Gary; and Sharon Schroeder and her husband Danny. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Tracey Young, Kristie Gordon, Jason Young and his wife Melissa, Melissa Collins and her husband Daniel, Jennifer Walden and her husband Lewis, Theresa Fries, Rebecca May and her husband Shawn, Angela Crow and her husband James, Nathan Love and his wife Liz, Alyssa Johnson, Emily Schroeder, Evan Schroeder, and Josh Schroeder. Shirley’s spirit is further honored by her great-grandchildren: Brandyn, Summer, Savannah, Jayde, Alex, Kaitlyn, Zachary, Paul, Abby, Olivia, Ada, Jaelyn, Will, and Joey. She also is survived by her dear sister Wanda Scott, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who carry forward her warmth and generosity.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Delmon "Follis" Young, Sr., her partner of 72 years. She also was predeceased by her parents, Willard and Mary Luther, and by her siblings Brenda Wise, Arthur Luther, Robert Luther, Orlin Luther, Pat Roby, Betty Coffee, Linda Jones, Pam Pierce, and Jeannie Decker.

A visitation to honor Shirley’s beautiful life will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A private burial will be at a later date at Roger's Campground Cemetery in Elizabeth, Indiana. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Shirley are invited to gather and celebrate the enduring impact of her love and spirit.

Shirley Ann Young’s legacy is one of grace, tenderness, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. She leaves behind a profound imprint on the hearts of many, and her memory will forever be cherished.
