Shirley Jean (Finney) Turner, 88, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025. A gifted artist known for her versatility across various mediums, Shirley left an indelible mark on her community through her art. Notably, she painted numerous murals, including several that adorn the Pediatric wing at Shriners Hospital for Children in Lexington, Kentucky, showcasing her passion for creativity and dedication to uplifting others.
Born on July 19, 1936, in Green County, Kentucky, Shirley was the daughter of the late Luther and Lottie "Sue" (Womack) Finney. Throughout her life, Shirley faced many challenges; however, her unwavering positive outlook and optimistic spirit shone through to all who knew her. She cherished her family deeply and relished every moment spent with those she loved.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Billy and Danny Turner; her son-in-law, Donnie Williams; and her brother, Jim Finney. She is survived by her children, Mark Turner (Becky) and Marcia Williams; dear family friends, Larry Geswein and Trish Jones; her brother, Don Finney; her grandchildren, Misty Newton (Rick), Adam Turner (Nathan Laube), Diana Worrell (Jimmy), Chad Turner, and Hollye Turner; as well as five great-grandchildren.
Shirley's wish was to be cremated. Family and friends are invited to gather in her honor from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany), where a celebration of her life will commence at 12:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank Trish Jones for the love and care she provided to Shirley over the last few months of her life.
