Shirley Kathleen Taylor

Shirley Kathleen (Bennett) Taylor, was born on May 13, 1936, in Ottawa, Kansas, and passed away on January 28, 2026.

Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who embraced life with an energetic spirit and a passion for creativity. She dedicated her life to her family, always ensuring that their homes were filled with warmth and love. Her nurturing nature was evident in her roles as a mother to her daughter, Karla (Mark) Herrin, and her son, Clifford (Jennie) Taylor, and as a grandmother to Nicklas (Elizabeth) Herrin and Fletcher Herrin. She was especially proud of her great-grandchildren, Marley, Molly, Robert, and Andy Herrin, and Dwayne and Angelique Smith.

A woman of many passions, Shirley was an avid quilter who poured her heart into her craft, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by many. She also had an interest in genealogy, exploring her family's roots with curiosity. Shirley found peace and solace in the beauty of nature, relishing time spent watching birds and appreciating the intricacies of flowers and nature. Additionally, her talent extended to painting, where she expressed her artistic spirit.

Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wendell Taylor, who was a constant source of support throughout her life. She also mourns the passing of her parents, Carl Bennett and Evelyn (Happy) Bennett; and her siblings, Ann Salb, Carl Bennett, Larry Bennett, and Kenneth Bennett.

Cremation was chosen following Shirley's wishes and she will be laid to rest privately with her husband at New Albany National Cemetery.
