Shirley Ann Shead, age 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on May 12, 2025, leaving a profound legacy of love and cherished memories.
Beloved as a mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Shirley was the heart of her family and community. Her warm smile and open heart made her home a sanctuary, always welcoming anyone who stepped through her door. A true social butterfly, she had a gift for connecting with others and never met a stranger. Together with her dear friend Teresa, she found joy in simple pleasures such as shopping, cooking, and attending Sunday church services, where her spirit shone brightly.
Shirley was born on May 11, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Andrew Brince and Mary Glover Kelly. She was preceded in death by her brother, Virgil Lee Kelly, Jr., as well as her treasured friends, Teresa, Gene, Libby, and Jerry, who surely await her with open arms.
Shirley is survived by her devoted sons, Michael (Regina) Shead and Dewayne (Emma) Shead; her loving daughter, Selois Shead; and her cherished sisters, Louise Lauderdale and Fidel (Thomas) Gray. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandsons: Dewayne Shead, Jr., Michael Lewis, Donte Tatum, Devoughn Shead, Desheawn (Jessica) Shead, Martez Lovely, Terrell (Kanara) Buchanan, Raymond Brooks, III, and Michael Shead, Jr.; and her granddaughters, Michaela Shead, Jeniqua Everheart, Rayven Shead, Myciah Shead, and Angela White. Her warmth extended to her 15 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild, along with a host of nephews, Kenneth Lauderdale, Ricky (Karen) Kelly, Terrell Gray, Troy (Damika) Gray, Kenneth (Roma) Northington, Anthony Irvin, Tony Northington, Raymond Brooks, Jr; niece, Tawyanna Gray and extended family, all of whom will carry her loving memory in their hearts forever.
