Shirley "Dutch" Long

Shirley, "Dutch" Long, 82, of Louisville, Kentucky entered everlasting life with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 10, 2020 after struggling with complications due to cancer surgery. She was born on March 29, 1938 in Louisville, KY and graduated from Ahrens Trade High School where she met and married the love of her life, Richard on November 1, 1957 and had 2 children, Richard & Gina.

Dutch was survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard Long; son Richard D. Long (Cindy), daughter - Gina Lippert (Shawn), 6 Grandchildren - Sarah, Samantha, Kristen, Karisa, Ryan and Kaitlyn, 2 Great Grandchildren Lina & Laela, and her sister Toby Peck (Paul)

She was predeceased in death by her parents Myrtle & Henry Thorpe, Sister Barbara Fahringer and brother Jack Glaser.

Dutch was a wonderful stay at home Mom and housewife for many years and then went to Beauty School to become a hairdresser. She loved spending time with her family and friends and doing all types of crafts, but her heart was in card making were she would send her encouraging art and words to so many loved ones. Dutch was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed being involved in her church, Southeast Christian West Campus, and loved Jesus with all her heart.

Although the service is private and limited to family only during this time, we know all her friends and extended family are thinking of her and our family and for that we are truly grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: https://hosparushealth.org
