Shirley Ann (Eakins) Horner, 87, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Shirley was a long-time member of Culbertson Avenue Baptist Church in New Albany and a lay minister with the American Baptist Association. She had a heart for service to others and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for many years.
She was born on November 1, 1932, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Clarence and Thelma (Powell) Eakins. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Horner; son, Darin Horner; son, David "Duke" Davis; stepson, Phillip Horner; son-in-law, Rodger Coy; and brother, Clarence Eakins.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Trudy Coy; son, Lonnie (Kim) Davis; daughter-in-law, Shirley Horner; daughter-in-law, Donna Davis; stepdaughter, Suzanne (Joe) Fouts; stepson, Ronnie (Judy) Horner; nephew, Kenneth (Sherry) Eakins; nephew, Mark Eakins; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with burial to follow at Abundant Life Memorial Gardens.
