Shirley Ann(Hinton) Biggs Cawthon

Shirley Ann ( Hinton) Biggs-Cawthon, 86, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on May 10, 2016. She was born on August 27, 1929, in Stager, Illinois, to Edward Hinton and Edna (Lewis) Brower. She retired from the U.S. Census Bureau after many years. Shirley was a very talented person who enjoyed building and designing homes, cross- stitching, shopping, and trips to Gatlinburg, TN. Shirley loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her siblings; Paul Edward Hinton, Evelyn May Hinton McGannon, David Robert Hinton, Mary Maxine Hinton Gladden, and Carol Bernadine Hinton Moor Conger; son-in-law, Max Mason; and grandchildren, Kevin Douglas Striegel and Jennifer Rene Linton.

She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Wallace Cawthon; children, Janet Kay Mason, Janice Sue Mouser (Tom), Patricia Ann Linton (Vercel Ray), and Richard Hardy Biggs (Patricia); sister, Donna Hankins Tieman; stepchildren, Rebecca Gobert and David Cawthon; 9 grandchildren, Ronald Joseph Striegel (Anita), Bryan Scott Striegel (Kathy), Matthew Chad Striegel, Christopher Hall Graves, Shawn Patrick Graves, Todd Eric Graves, Christina Nichole Lencioni (Oreste), Heather Renee Rice (Patrick), and Amanda Dawn Conrad (Jacob); and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 12 to 6 PM, Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home ( 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). Her Service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Abundant Life Memorial Gardens in New Albany, Indiana.
