Sherry L. Thornton, formerly known as Sherry Blakenship, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, in her beloved hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Born on July 6, 1959, Sherry was a lifelong resident of Louisville, where she dedicated herself to her family and community.

Sherry was cherished by her family, including her husband, Jerry Thornton; her sons, Tommy Grandmaison and Levi Grandmaison; and her four grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also remembered by her brothers, Jeff Blakenship and C.W. Blakenship, and her sister, Sandy Walls, who, along with her husband Lloyd, provided steadfast support.

Sherry was predeceased by her parents, Claude and Emma Blakenship, and her sister, Claudia Hafendorfer. Their memory lives on in the hearts of her family, who will forever honor her kindness and unwavering dedication to those she loved.

Throughout her life, Sherry was actively involved in her community. She became a member of the Middletown Women's Club in 2023, where she made lasting friendships and contributed her time and energy. Additionally, Sherry was a member of Moose Lodge #5, where she participated in various activities that enriched her life and those around her.

Her passing marked the end of a courageous battle with cancer, a journey she faced with remarkable strength and grace. Sherry leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and communal spirit that will be remembered by all who knew her.
