Sherry Lynn Peterson passed away on October 6, 2026, at the age of 55.
Sherry will be remembered as a woman of deep faith, bright spirit, and remarkable strength. Most importantly, she was a woman of God whose outgoing nature and infectious personality brought positive energy wherever she went. She loved to sing and dance, and she had a special way of putting a smile on someone’s face even during hard times. Those who knew her knew they could turn to her for advice, encouragement, and comfort.
She was resilient and never let anything get her down. A true fighter, Sherry faced her battle with cancer without complaint. Through it all, she treasured the time she spent with her family, friends, and neighbors, sharing with them the warmth, joy, and steady heart that defined her life.
Sherry was a graduate of Waggener High School and went on to earn her Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Jefferson Community College. In her working life, she was loved for her care of children and the elderly, reflecting the compassion and kindness that came so naturally to her.
She also found joy in the simple and beautiful things of life. Sherry was an amazing cook who loved gardening, and she enjoyed collecting Reborn Baby Dolls and stuffed animals. Her proudest accomplishment was her daughter, Mycah, her rainbow baby. Just as meaningful to her was the happiness she brought to others; making people smile was one of the gifts she gave so freely.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Sherry at a Memorial Gathering from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 17, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, Kentucky 40272. A Celebration of Life will be held there at 4:00 p.m. that same day.
Sherry Lynn Peterson leaves behind a memory of faith, courage, joy, and love that will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew her.
