Sherry Kay Jones

Sherry Kay Jones, a cherished friend and beloved family member, passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on January 11, 1957, in Gary, Indiana, Sherry was known for her vibrant spirit and deep commitment to those she loved.

Throughout her life, Sherry cultivated strong and meaningful relationships with her friends and family, who will forever remember her fondly. She is survived by her daughter, Brooke Staples; her sisters, Nancy Wilding and Kathy (Bernard) Maertz; and her grandson, Kaden Cluckey. Sherry also leaves behind her nieces, Diana (Nick) Prentice, Nicole (Michael) Upton, and Morgan Maertz (Gil), along with her extended family, Kathy & Bob Snelling, Dana Reuter, and Michelle Stolt. Sherry's loyal companion, her beloved dog Roxy, was a constant presence in her life and provided comfort and joy.

Sherry's most important role was being Mimi to her beloved grandson, Kaden. She was known for her passions, which included hot yoga and indulging in shopping sprees. An avid fan of the University of Louisville, she proudly supported her team and shared her enthusiasm with friends and family alike.

Her parents, Coach Jerry Jones and Beverly (Nichols) Jones, precede Sherry in death.

Loved dearly by all who knew her, Sherry Kay Jones leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love. She will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Visitation will continue on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 am on Saturday, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest privately at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
