Shemar R. Shackelford

Shemar Rayon Shackelford, 30 years old, from Louisville KY, and New Albany IN, passed suddenly and unexpectedly on April 15, 2026.

Shemar was born on May 23, 1995, the pride and joy of his mother, Tonda Shackelford, his father, Damon White, and his grandmother, Louise Patton. He was named Shemar, after his Aunt Lucy's favorite soap opera star Shemar Moore. He was known to his loved ones by his nickname "Peanut" for being so small when he was born.

Shemar was raised in Jefferson Gardens and grew up on Carver street, surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins and neighborhood friends. He was raised by many loving hands, and had a beautiful childhood full of love, adventures ,and core memories.

Shemar was naturally gifted and creative. He excelled at most things he set his mind to. One of his passions was creating music, a passion he shared with his father, Damon. He used his love of music and lyrics to create many of his own original songs. His passion for electronics led him to become certified in computer programming and pursue website development.

Shemar's greatest joy and passion by far was the people that he loved. His Mother Tonda, chief among them. Shemar was, and is loved widely and fiercely by his family and his many friends.

His legacy continues on though his sons, Iven Rayon Huffman ,and Majectic Malik Nelson. Those who knew and loved him will carry his memory and share it with his sons.

He will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his mother, Tonda, his father, Damon, his grandmother, Louise Patton, his grandparents, Kay Crawford and Daniel Watkins; his six siblings: De'Coyia Simmons, Da'Kayla White, Da'Mon White, DyMon White, Da'Naira White, and Daivyon Best, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles.

His joy, the sound of his laughter, and the brightness of his smile will be forever imprinted on the hearts and minds of those who had the privilege of loving him.

Visitation will be from 11:00AM to 1:00PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at the same location. Burial will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
