In Loving Memory of Sharron Elizabeth Moore-ParkerAugust 4, 1946 – July 6, 2025
Sharron Elizabeth Moore-Parker, 78, passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 4, 1946, in Oakland, California, she was the eldest of three daughters born to Morris and Corrine Moore. From her earliest days, Sharron carried a quiet strength, a deep faith, and a heart committed to service and family.
Raised in the Adventist tradition, Sharron was a member of the Market Street Seventh-day Adventist Church in Oakland. Her faith shaped the foundation of her life. She attended Golden Gate Academy and Vallejo High School in California and went on to study at Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama—a place that nurtured her values and deepened her connection to the Adventist community.
Sharron married Frederick Parker Sr., and together they shared 43 years of marriage and raised two children, Angela and Fred. Their life took them from California to Washington and eventually to Huntsville, Alabama.
Sharron's commitment to her church was unwavering. Over the years, she served faithfully in various ministries, from Emerald City SDA Church in Seattle to First Church and Madison Mission in Huntsville, to her final home church of Magazine Street SDA in Louisville, KY. She held roles such as ordained deaconess, head church clerk, secretary, usher, and sang joyfully in several choirs and musical groups. Her quiet leadership and dependable presence were deeply valued in every congregation she touched.
Professionally, Sharron served others with compassion and humility. She worked as a certified medical assistant, a devoted caregiver, a wedding coordinator, a substitute teacher in Adventist schools, and even co-owned a vegetarian restaurant. No matter the role, she brought kindness, patience, and dignity to those she served.
Sharron had a love for life that radiated through her passions. She was an avid traveler and had visited every U.S. state except three—a personal accomplishment that brought her great joy. She loved music in all its forms, from sacred hymns to gospel, but her absolute favorite was Earth, Wind & Fire. Anyone who knew her couldn’t hear “September” without seeing her smile and sway to the rhythm—often encouraging others to dance along.
A lifelong reader, Sharron was rarely seen without a book in her hand. But more than anything, she cherished time spent with her beloved family and close friends. Her sense of humor, delivered with a straight face and a sparkle in her eye, brought laughter and light to every gathering. She had an adventurous spirit and was always ready to go—so long as her family was with her. In her later years, living in Louisville surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable happiness and fulfillment.
Sharron was preceded in death by her father, Morris Moore; her mother, Corrine Moore; and her sister, Cynthia Taylor. She leaves behind her loving sister, Lynnette Moore; her children, Angela Roberts (Michael) and Frederick Parker II (Dawn), whom she shared with her former spouse, Frederick Parker; her grandchildren, Jannette Moore (Ryan), Matthew Creak (Hannah), and Aliyah Parker; her great-grandchildren, Jordan Board, London Gipson, Lily Creak, and Leia Creak; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, treasured friends, and her extended church family.
A celebration of Sharron’s life will be held on Sunday, July 27th, at 3:30 p.m. at Magazine Street SDA Church, 1942 Magazine Street, Louisville, KY 40203. A visitation will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., prior to the service. A repast will follow in the church fellowship hall.
