Seldon Scott, a retired Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Management Director for Carroll County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home in Louisville, Kentucky on July 26, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on July 17, 1946 in Bowen, Kentucky, Seldon devoted his life to serving his community through his extensive career in emergency services. He also shared his knowledge and passion for the field as an Emergency Medical Technician instructor, inspiring many future first responders.
Seldon proudly served in the United States Navy, demonstrating his commitment to his country. His life was marked not only by his professional achievements but also by the joy he found in his personal pursuits. An avid fisherman, he cherished moments spent by the water, and he took great pleasure in riding his trike. Seldon was particularly proud of his leatherworking skills, crafting knife sheaths that were sold across the country, and he enjoyed woodworking, crafting items that showcased his talent and creativity.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis Scott; their son Chad Scott and his wife Amy; and a wonderful legacy in his grandchildren: Caleb Scott and his wife Holiday, Ryan Scott and his wife Jessica, Matthew Scott, Sarah Scott, and Sophie Scott. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Campton Scott and held deep affection for his many nieces and nephews.
Seldon was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Rosie Scott, along with his sisters, Lucille Race and Dora Nantz, and his brothers, Charlie Scott and Meredith Scott.
A memorial gathering celebrating the life of Seldon Scott will be held on August 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 235 Juneau Dr., Louisville, Kentucky 40243. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving a mark on the hearts of family, friends, and colleagues.
